18 STUDIOCANAL FILMS SELECTED FOR THE LUMIERE FESTIVAL

10/14/2016

18 titles from the STUDIOCANAL catalogue were selected for the 8th edition of the Lumière Festival, one of the biggest international festivals for classic films, which will take place from the 8th to the 16th of October in Lyon, France.
Among its selection, the Lumière Institute has chosen movies from top French directors such as Marcel Carné, Claude Lelouch, André Téchiné, Jean-Luc Godard…

This year, the Lumière Award will be presented to Catherine Deneuve.
The actress will be honored at the Festival, where INDOCHINE, the movie that got her the César award for Best Actress, will be shown for the first time in a restored version to close this year’s edition of the festival. In INDOCHINE, Catherine Deneuve plays the role of Eliane Devries, heiress of a rubber plantation and adoptive mother of the Annamite princess Camille. Their mother-daughter relationship is shaken when they meet Jean-Baptiste, a French navy lieutenant, who they will both fall in love with while the communist revolutionaries carry out terror attacks in the French Indochine of the 1930s.
The movie won 5 César, and both the Oscar and the Golden Globe for best foreign movie in 1993. INDOCHINE, by Régis Wargnier starring Catherine Deneuve, Vincent Perez and Jean Yanne, will be presented as the closing night selection of the festival on Sunday October 16th, and will be re-released in theaters on October 19th.
