In 1967, in her first collaboration with Luis Buñuel, Catherine Deneuve played a troubled and afflicted young woman, living halfway between fantasy and reality, in BELLE DE JOUR. A public success upon its release, the film won the prestigious Golden Lion award at the Venice film festival in 1967.

The restored version of BELLE DE JOUR was unveiled in a global premiere at the Cannes Classics event in May 2017, and the film received a new cinema release in all STUDIOCANAL countries. In France, this cinema re-release was accompanied by a retrospective of 6 other films from the STUDIOCANAL Catalogue: CET OBSCUR OBJET DU DÉSIR, LE JOURNAL D’UNE FEMME DE CHAMBRE, LA VOIE LACTÉE, LE FANTÔME DE LA LIBERTÉ, TRISTANA and LE CHARME DISCRET DE LA BOURGEOISIE.
